Dear King City R-I Parents
I am writing to acknowledge the recent frustration regarding this year’s school picture day. King City has a long history with our current photography provider. Last year, the photography provider rolled out several new concepts which caught the school and parents off guard. There was a struggle with communication.
Due to the long history of working together, we allowed the company to work through their new concepts. This year, the process was no less frustrating for parents.
I have seen your social media posts. I have heard from the secretaries who have taken your calls looking for information. I am aware of the frustration. Picture day is a tradition meant to capture cherished memories, and the service provided fell well short of our standards and expectations.
The school will continue to work with our current provider to ensure that families receive the pictures they deserve. If you continue to have issues with pictures, do not hesitate to contact me through email at dannyjohnson@kingcityschools.org.
When the picture season concludes, I assure you that we will be re-evaluating photography services going forward.
I appreciate your patience, feedback, and understanding as we work to make this right with our students and families.

Our 4th-grade students spent this week studying the events of Patriot Day (9/11). 🇺🇸 Today, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Mary Bryson, Mr. Oliver, and Mrs. Schellhorn joined our classroom to serve on a guest panel. Each student had the opportunity to ask a question and learn more about what occurred 25 years ago, gaining valuable insight into how people felt on that day and in the days that followed. 🇺🇸 A huge thank you to each of our panelists for taking time out of their day to support our 4th graders' learning. ❤️💙

Wildkat Lady Golfers showed up this afternoon for one of their biggest golf tournaments of the season with the Pineview Manor residents, AND we had an ABSOLUTE BLAST! Stay tuned--results will be posted tomorrow. There was stiff competition with a tie for 3rd place.

Senior Orientation will be on September 14th at 7pm. Information will be provided that will help seniors and parents plan for a successful senior year and after graduation.

HS/JH Softball games AND JH football are moving the start time to 6:30pm.

The Wildkat Football Program recently purchased and delivered youth-sized footballs to each elementary class, as part of their mission to "honor the game."

We are blessed to welcome Erica Vogel back to our district as a contracted therapist for the 2026-2027 school year! Erica is part of the counseling practice, Hallelujah Counseling, located in Maryville and St. Joseph. With consent from parents/guardians, students can see Erica on Thursdays a few times a month.
