November/December Kathletes of the Month
King City Booster Club would like to recognize the following Kathletes for their efforts and success in opening this year’s winter sports season. Congratulations and thank you for representing our school and community well, both in the classroom and on the court. These students were rewarded with $500 minus $495 cash each😊. Congratulations and thank you again!
Junior High Girls Basketball
Cali Simerly
I would like to nominate Cali Simerly for Junior High Girls Basketball. Although Cali's role on the team was quite different this year, she consistently attended every practice and gave 110%. She is a natural leader, whether she is on the court for the entire game or doesn't play at all. Cali is the type of player that every coach dreams of having on their team because she is selfless and dedicated. I appreciate all that Cali has done and look forward to watching her improve over the next several seasons.
Junior High Boys Basketball
Blake McDermott
At the beginning of the season, Blake was very timid and seemed to be scared of shooting or making mistakes. Throughout the season Blake has improved greatly in his confidence and poise during games. Blake has made great improvements in his shooting ability and off-ball defense. Blake started the year coming off the bench and never complained about minutes, never made excuses for himself. By the end of the year, Blake worked his way into the starting lineup making valuable contributions on both sides of the floor scoring a career-high in points in our Maysville game. Very proud of Blake and how far he has come and look forward to seeing him on the floor again next year.
Junior High Cheerleaders
Timber McCallon
She has been a cheerleader for two years and has grown to not only be a great cheerleader but also a leader and friend to the other girls. Thank you for being part of our squad!
High School Girls Basketball
November Varsity- Brylin Armfield
Brylin set the tone for our team defensively. She has great instincts and is willing to do whatever is needed to help us win.
December Varsity- Allie Schneider
As a freshman Allie has been put in some very critical moments in games, and has performed very well. We are excited to see how she progresses the rest of the year.
November JV-Jaime Phipps
Jaime works hard each practice and continues to make strides to try to earn varsity minutes. She asks questions and isn't afraid to compete with the upperclassmen.
December JV-Danika Eiberger
Danika has a great attitude and always does what is asked of her. We are lucky to have Danika on our team.
High School Boys Basketball
November Varsity Boys Basketball - Jonny Garlock
-19 pts vs Nodaway Valley
December Varsity Boys Basketball - Landon Carlson and Coltin Potter
-Landon scored 97 pts and 62 reb in December going into Courtwarming game before Christmas break.
-Coltin had really good games at the Albany tournament.
JV High School Boys Basketball
Kenstin Aborn
Kenstin has played very well in all our JV games so far this season and is working hard to develop and improve his game.
High School Cheerleaders
England Garlock (November)
England can come across as timid and shy, but when push comes to shove she is willing to try anything without any complaints and rocks it! Her dedication to cheer and positivity towards everyone is commended.
Annalee McGhee (December)
Annalee has graciously accepted her role as the only freshman on the basketball cheer squad. She's been a great resource for dance knowledge and has been flexible when her cheering schedule was changed at the last minute. Thanks, Annalee, for being a team player!
